“Who has the story book?”I thought, “I need some other clue.” I rushed to Cathy’s house. “Where did you buy the story book?” I asked. “The case is over now. Why do you want to know that? Ok, ok. I’ll tell you. I
bought it at the bookshop next to the school.” “Thank you.”
A few minutes later, I get to the bookshop.
“Did a strange girl buy a storybook?” I asked to the salesman. “Yes, a week
ago, she bought a lot of story books with her friends.” Her friends? They must be
Jane and Anne. “These storybooks don’t have any missing page, right?” “Yes. Our
books are nice and good.” I bought the same book that Cathy had bought. Then, I
went back home.
Now, I need the page number of the missing
page. I phoned Cathy and asked: “What is page number of the missing page?” “I
forget it, the book is at Anne’s house. That’s her book, not mine.” “So Anne went to
the bookshop with you and bought that storybook, she lend that book to you at
the meeting.” “Right.” I hang up the phone and phoned Anne. “I need the page number of the missing
page,” I said. “Let me see. It’s page 32.” “Thank you for your help.” I hang up.
I sit down and open my storybook and turn to
the page 32. There’s a picture on it; it is about a dog sitting in the cinema alone. “I’ve heard this picture before,” I thought. “Anne’s brother Harry said
he liked this picture best at the meeting!” The case is solved; I rushed to
Cathy’s house.
“I know who hurt that storybook now.” “It’s
Jane’s cat; I learned that already.” “No, Jane’s cat hurt the cookbook but it didn’t
even touch the storybook at the meeting!” “Then who did this?” “First, the picture
on the missing page is the dog sitting in the cinema alone. Harry said he liked
that picture best, but you didn’t read that page at all because the page is
missing. How did he know that picture? The answer is: he lent it to you because he
liked picture. The case is solved.”
