12 A Story of A Mysterious Game and The Murdering Story 12

    “Let’s test if the special power works.” I suggested.

    “But how?” Helena asked.

    “Easypisy. I will phone Amy now and your try to control Amy’s action by letting her say ‘I love Eddy’.”I smirked, it’s a good way to reprisal. 

    “Let’s do it,” Helena gave me a wink, she thought the idea splendid.

    So I phone Amy at once, and Helena clicked the green button in the App which printed the words “use the special power”. Amy answered it with a gruffly voice. “What’s do you want now?” She asked coldly. 

    “Ask her if she loved Eddy.” Helena shouted excitedly beside me.

    I gave her a sign of silence and asked in a gossip way, “Do you love Eddy? I found you often hang up with him these days.”

    The other side of the phone quieted a little moment, then her voice appeared fiercely, “Of course……”

    I nodded to Helena and she pressed the button. Then she ordered, “I want Amy to say ‘Yes, Eddy was my first crush. He was so cool, and kind and understanding, and also a little handsome. I felt warm and safe with him.’” 

    Then I heard Amy’s voice from the other side of the phone saying, “Yes, Eddy was my first crush. He was so cool, and kind and understanding, and also a little handsome. I felt warm and safe with him.”

    I pretended to be very surprised, “Really? That was very ……sweet.” And it was really hard to hold back my laughter.

    “No, what, what did I say? Laura, I was being controlled just now. Those words are not true, I didn’t like Eddy a bit. Believe me.”Amy said in a panic.

    I tried to be nice, “It’s ok, I was just asking. See you tomorrow”， and I hung up the phone.

    Helena and I looked face to face for a second, and we burst into laughter. I was laughing my heads off. I knew this was kind of mean, but I mean, who cares? She betrayed me first, it was her fault. I comforted myself. But deep inside me, I promised not to do these cruel things again. Anyway, retaliating is defiantly not a good sport in my dictionary.

    After I went home I thought of the plan again and found that it exist some problems. I called to Helena.

    “Helena, listen. Its urgent. Our plan wouldn’t work.”

    “Why? Isn’t it perfect?” Helena was confused.

    “It’s perfect, until we did the experiment this afternoon. Think it over, even if you can control Amy’s action and made her tell her identity to Athena, we can’t see how Athena react, because we are not beside them.” I pointed out the problem.

    “Yeah, that’s tuff. Maybe we can tell Athena’s identity by the movements between Amy and Athena in the future.” Helena said in the other side.

    “Well, that’s pretty good, but too risky. You know how Amy is good at acting. She won the school year best acting prize. Remember?” I refused this suggestion.

    “There’s another way,” Helena said hesitantly, “tomorrow at noon, at 12 o’clock, I will control Amy’s action at make her tell Athena her identity at the window 25 in the cafeteria. I will do this secretly, and you buy your lunch at that window tomorrow. You help me watch Athena’s action. Then we will meet at recess. You can tell me then what’s Athena’s identity.”

    “That surely will work.”I said with certainty, “Try to control Amy longer. I am afraid if it fails, Amy will find out it’s us doing so. You have to prepare me enough time to leave.”

    “I will,” Helena promised and she hung up.

    After the phone call, I was much relaxed. The plan, will one hundred percent work.

    The next morning, I couldn’t concentrate a bit on teachers. My head was spinning for 12 to come quicker. But the more I wished time to go faster, it seemed to pass deliberately slowly. 12 o’clock finally came. I ran as fast as I could to the window 25 in the cafeteria. Good news, Athena and Amy were just in front of me. I thanked Helena a hundred times inside me. Then, the conversation between Athena and Amy flew into my ears.

Amy: Athena, you know that there were only six people left in the game?

Athena: Yeah? There were only Laura, Helena, Brian, Eddy, you and I left right?

Amy: Do you know who your partners are?

Athena: No, I don’t. I don’t know any of yours’ identities. And I am really not interested in it. I had my own name card, so neither of you can kill me. And I wouldn’t kill you guys either. I am not enjoying the game anyway.

Amy: Enjoying? Are you crazy? You thought you could enjoy the game? That’s hideous. Nobody enjoys the game, Athena. And I had to make sure if you are on my side or not.

Athena: What’s your identity?
Amy: Finder. And yours?

    I saw Athena’s face twisted hard. But she quickly calmed herself down, flashed Amy a smile, and said, “I am too.”

    “Really? Then we are teammates. ”I heard Amy’s exciting voice. To me, the tongue made me want to throw up. Helena and I were totally out of hope to win. They were now four Vs two. I wanted to leave that place, now. When I was about to escape, I saw Athena turning back. She gave me a look, a look which contained so many feelings I couldn’t understand. She surely wanted to tell me something, but what? Amy was still talking none stop so she didn’t notice us. Athena saw my confused face, bit up her lips, and turned back to Amy. I walked out of there, still didn’t figure out that expression in her eyes. Long time after this, only then did I find out that I couldn’t even read the information she tried to warn me in her eyes, I might be the stupidest student in the game.

    I went to Helena, told her all the things which happened. And I was glad there was a person as confused as I was. “It sucks.” She said. Yes, we were stuck, again.
